The Brief

To design and supply a glass botanical perfumery and planters for the Silver Gilt Medal winner at Hampton Court Flower show 2016 sponsored by Crabtree and Evelyn.

The Design

Working with garden designer Jade Goto and Garden House Design, our designer Clive Sparkes was given the brief to design two modular glass buildings which could be erected and dismantled for the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. The show garden titled ‘The Botanical Studio’ was inspired by the traditional ‘Still Room’ and embraces the scents which are familiar with Crabtree and Evelyn’s products. Clive is not unfamiliar with incorporating elements of nature and the human form into his work and this project was no exception. The studio was to embrace ‘the riches of the natural world, introducing product ranges made with fruit, flower and plant essences.’

The Structure

Clive has worked with glass architectural design for over 30 years and his expertise in the industry provided the foundations for the structural design for the buildings. Using 12mm toughened glass for the walls and 18mm Toughened Laminated for the roof, all held together with copper sprayed stainless steel clamps. Secured in place using a balustrade base shoe system hidden from sight by the black decking.
