Welcome to our first issue! We created this issue based around mirrors, in order to change how designers think about reflection. Not as a decorative afterthought, but as a precise architectural decision that shapes space, light, rhythm and brand experience. In this February edition of Reflective Intelligence, we speak directly from the studio floor—sharing how we plan, prototype and deliver mirrors and glass that behave like part of the building, not merely what’s fixed to it.

Our point of view is simple: the mirror should disappear; the reflection should do the work. That means aligning panels to structural lines, resolving edges cleanly, and eliminating visual noise from clips, junctions or stressed fixings. It’s the difference between an enlarged, calm interior and one that feels fragmented. You’ll see our approach throughout the issue, from concept sketches to detailing checklists that show how we protect optical accuracy and longevity.

We start with intent. Before we draw a panel, we test what it will reflect—daylight, ceiling rhythms, material junctions, sightlines at both seated and standing eye level. Reflection can widen a corridor, lift a ceiling or deepen a room, but only when it’s disciplined. We plan those lines in early, so mirrors integrate with lighting, services and joinery instead of fighting them later. That early integration is how we avoid glare, driver-access issues, or LED dotting — just a few of the most common problems we’ve solved.

Light is our favourite material to work with. Position a mirror near glazing and it can carry daylight deep into a plan. Pair it with controlled artificial light and you can tune mood, clarity and contrast with minimal wattage. In this edition, we show why reflection and illumination must be designed together—how low‑iron substrates preserve colour fidelity, how COB LED creates continuous, dot‑free glow lines, and why dimmable, solutions belong in both residential dressing zones and boutique hospitality suites. We also set out the coordination that keeps it all serviceable: power feeds, recess allowances and driver access planned at the right phase

Residential work is about daily life done beautifully. We align mirrors with doors, windows and joinery so they feel inevitable, not applied. In living spaces, we extend daylight and reinforce geometry without visual clutter. In bedrooms, we quieten reflection to protect rest. Kitchens demand heat‑aware glass and clean edge control; bathrooms need demisters, IP‑rated components and ventilation designed in—not squeezed in. The result is calm, clear, and durable.

Behind the scenes, our technical intelligence is what keeps the reflection true over time. Stress‑free mechanical fixings, ventilation gaps measured in millimetres, substrates that are dry, sealed and level, adhesives compatible with mirror backing—these aren’t contractor footnotes; they’re design decisions that protect optics and safety. Where projects require it, we specify safety‑backed or laminated mirrors and comply with the relevant impact standards, pairing the right fixing system with the right access strategy for maintenance.
